People seem pretty divided about this, personally love it, while not as good as Funeral, I still feel it's better than Neon Bible, great album!

Anyway I gave this another listen today.. Pretty much the same opinion as the first time around. It's a very nice album, maybe a bit long, but still... And unlike Jhereko I like that this occasionally resembles the "1970s FM radio rock hits". For example Modern Man, which I find to be resembling of Fleetwood Mac from that era. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Oh, but I agree that the top 50 position on this site is a bit ridiculous. Then again it's not the only album on the site we can say that for.

I'm rather enjoying the rumpus this album has stirred up, ironically, for being too normal. Controversial albums don't cause nearly as much controversy as uncontroversial ones.

Gotta side with Necharsian here. The Suburbs and MBDTF are both popular albums, with the former at #1 and the latter at #2. It's a bit of a stretch to complain about small-mindedness based on that.

I am more excited about the future of hip hop than I am about any other genre, but I don't have MBDTF in my 2010s list. I wish I could enjoy it as much as I want to, and there are a lot of things I love about it, but it had way too much Kanye for me.

There I've said my piece. So in short: I hate the placement of the album more than I hate the album.

Sure, 45 is stupid high. But I usually just ignore the placement of albums in the overall chart and focus on the actual music. (And there are worse albums that are highly exaggerated in the charts. Personally I'd me more upset about Funeral being at 11, but hey that's just me!). Originality is overrated anyways. I just enjoy listening to The Suburbs, so I don't really care about anything else. I mean is Helplessness Blues bringing anything new to the table? Not really. Should it be the top of 2011? God no.

Also, The Suburbs is better than Thriller and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot The rest, no.

And finally, are you serious about MBDTF?? It's number 2 in 2010. Not 54 If we're gonna cry about the lack of hip-hop, may as well throw metal into there as well. Post 1990 metal is basically inexistent on this site.

If anything, Neon Bible is immensely more boring.

You know I like fun. I know fun. This album is NOT fun. It's over an hour of Win Butler moping about his childhood (or the bittersweet nostalgia of remembering it) and then his wife chimes in with her bitching. The songs all sound like stuff you've heard on 70s FM radio rock hits (quite possibly the point) and there is nothing original on here - which is why this is so much duller than Neon Bible. Songs like: Black Mirror, The Well And The Lighthouse or No Cars GO? They're fun.

And okay this album has some redeeming moments (Empty Room being one of them) but my main gripe is how high up it is...#45...#45 of all time?? What the christ?

I vaguely remember listening to Neon Bible. I was genuinely annoyed by it. I suppose the Suburbs IS listenable in a way... just feels empty to me and therefore boring. The Funeral is my favorite from this band because it is the only one I find any sense of artistic value... and the only one I think is simply good.

What's interesting about this band though is how different people seem to warm up to a different part of their music. I know I was pretty vague with my personal description but... I'd be interested in anyone that shares in detail what they find most appealing and least appealing in this band's work, and if they are able to, describe with specificity the reason why.

I like it. I also prefer Neon Bible though. And I didn't know there was such a thing as not liking Funeral.
