Case in point. And maybe Naples if you want to demonize me you shouldn't make a comparison to a responsible adult figure Smile

But to steer this into an actual discussion, in reference to lethal's post at the top of the page, when did the shootings occur? It does indeed seem like an eerie echo of not too distant history.

The shootings occurred in the middle of August, 34 miners died. The police then invoked an Apartheid-era law which essentially said that any workers protesting are responsible for the deaths of them and their colleagues if the police do kill anyone. Zuma refused to sack the police chief responsible, or publicly the blame him. Internal and international condemnation led to the charges being dropped, but Zuma insists on rubbing salt in the wounds by attempting to spin it in a good light, saying the whole debacle had a major silver lining in that it would be a shot in the arm for the mining industry and the industry would now be forced to improve working conditions. It's all a bit reminiscent of Reagan's speech in Bitburg, to be honest.

Thanks for that insightful input. Rolling Eyes

Do you have anything worthwhile to add on the subject, or is this just what happens when you run out of cartoons?

It seems this thread is officially off the rails.

It's not you're fault Shaco, but really there was no direction for this thread. The Zuma discussion is all well and go-- well, it's well at least, so if somebody wants to start a separate thread for that by all means. I just don't need another topic full of user wars front and center here.
