100 - Absolute Favorites & Flawless (A+)
95 - Favorites, incredible (A)
90 - Excellent, near flawless (A-)
85 - Solid, very enjoyable (B+)
80 - Okay/Good (B/B-)
75 - Alright (C)
70 - Not very good (C-)
Anything below is just terrible (D/F)

My rating system is very similar to a grading system for school academics.

My average rating is higher than most as a result of only rating the things that I like, as well as the fact that I enjoy basically everything I listen to. Also I rate higher than what I truly believe sometimes because I think an album deserves recognition.

I only rate albums. For it is like this...

90-100 A rare, rare thing.Probably only rated 75 or so albums this high. One of the greatest albums of all time.
80-89-A great album. One of my favourites
70-79 Very, very good. Maybe not one of the all-time greats, but one of the better albums of it's time.
60-69-Decent....inoffensive. Slightly above average and worth a listen.
50-59-Not terrible, but not really good either
26-49-Bad stuff.
0-25-I tend to avoid any albums I am going to have this kind of reaction to. I know what I like, and I have yet to rate an album this low. But I think of some I've heard in years past...

I don't see how this makes sense. Doesn't it make ratings meaningless? If I rate every album I've heard between 90-100, giving OK Computer a 90 is actually the worst possible rating. You guys see that 90 and assume "Wow, he loved that album".

I like Decurso's scale and wish it was recommended by the site.

Completely arbitrary rating scale:

00 - 39: I actively dislike this album, for whatever reason. Obviously, the lower the rating, the more I dislike it.

40 - 59: This album doesn't do a lot for me. It isn't unpleasant, but it's probably pretty fucking boring.

60 - 69: It's OK, has some great moments, but struggled to hold my attention for the entirety of the album.

70 - 74: Pretty much as above, except I think it's solid throughout, probably lacking enough great moments.

75 - 84: It's dope. I enjoyed it all the way through, and it had some moments I adored.

85 - 99: I love it from start to finish. Maybe not enough to make my overall, but it's an awesome record.

The magic 100: I probably have about 500-600 albums I'd assign this rating to. It's one of my favourites, that top tier of records I completely adore.

As you can probably tell by the amount of albums I would rate as highly as possible, ratings don't mean a lot to me, and I don't really bother with them very often.

I'm a teacher. I just can't help but rate albums in this same manner. In my state, in order to pass the state standards, you need to achieve a 70 or higher. See? Passing does NOT mean that you can shoot for that "D" anymore...because that's below acceptable.

Most albums that you rate SHOULD be around that 70 - 75 mark...that would truly make the album "average."

When you look over your ratings, it truly should form a bell-shaped curve...with the majority of the albums falling into that "average" category. Albums that earn a 100 should be far and few between...and so should those albums that "fail".

That's my three cents.

100 : I'm not sure ive given any album this rating. It would have to the perfect record. Not sure if that exists in my my ears

95 : Among my all time favorites. I doubt Ill ever tire of it.

80-90 : Definitely among my favorites of the year (probably decade)

65-75 : An album that i probably enjoy occasionally. Probably on my year chart if there isn't overwhelming competition.

45 - 60 : Has aspects that i might enjoy, but most likely just isn't for me.

0-40 : Varying degrees of my wish that the album was removed from musical canon.
