Personally, I LOVE them both. I don't know where I'd be without Damaged. It has way more emotional resonance on my actual life and things I've been through ever since I was a teenager. My War is certainly the artier album with probably their best playing. They're tight as fuck on My War and all the endless rehearsing definitely contributed to that. Ginn was nothing if not a task master. They're easily two of the most important albums in American Underground history, and both are absolutely essential for that period.
I also highly recommend their live album from 1984. It's crazy good & one of my favorite live albums of all time.

Live '84 by Black Flag
Listening to the second side of My War,I was reminded of bleach era Nirvana. No wonder Kurt listed this album in his Top 50 favourites.
