Really good blues/rock, but I think as good a guitar player SVR was, he did not really produce anything that could be considered exceptional. The bulk of his work (like this album) was pretty derivative, and while that is in no way bad thing, I think he is one of those artists who is held in a higher regard than he might otherwise have been because of his untimely demise.

Stevie Ray was probably one of the greatest live performers of Blues Rock to have ever walked the face of the earth, but it really doesn't show here I'm afraid.

I saw SRV right when this album was released. As great as this album was, his live show was positively incendiary! Whether on vinyl or on stage, the man was a true force of nature.
