Until recently it was easily Revolver. Buuuuut recently on a road trip I decided to listen to Sgt. Peppers. I ended up listening to it about 4 times and I was blown away. I had forgotten how vibrant and beautiful the mix of sounds are on that album. So, right now I'm thinking Sgt. Peppers. Surprised me too. But I love Rubber Soul the most, but bit by a huge amount. _________________ -Ryan

Pepper tends to get too much credit for being 'the first concept album' which is pretty flimsy outside including an intro and outro.
Revolver is a far stronger album, imo. It flows well, but also just has the better collection of songs. Sgt Pepper has LSD, Within You Without You and Day In The Life but that's basically it, the rest is honestly all fairly goofy. The only weak songs on Revolver are Good Day Sunshine and (purely from preference) Doctor Robert.
White Album trumps both.

I go back and forth between the two when I'm comparing Beatles albums to themselves, but compared to other albums, Sgt. Pepper always stands out more to me.
Sgt. Pepper is a little more "artsy" (whatever that means) if you are into that and while Revolver is considered to pioneer some psychedelic stuff, I still consider to be more the run of the mill pop rock album (the pop rock stuff far out numbers anything "artistic").

I feel like after a few years in the studio The Beatles became a little too fixated on studio-craft and leaned a little too much on George Martin in comparison to Rubber Soul and Revolver. To me, those two albums have a kind of purity and rawness combined with the band's unparalleled pop sensibility.
All their late 60s albums are very good but those two I mention are the pinnacle for me.

Oh god, Revolver. All day every day. And this is waaaaay easier a choice than most of you are making it out to be.

Day in the Life would be the best track on either of the two, but apart from that Revolver is much stronger in terms of songwriting. _________________ Always shouts out something obscene

Without A Day In The Life and being the first concept album (although only barely), no one would even think that Sgt. Pepper's is one of their best albums. Revolver has much stronger songs and was their first real experimental album.

Neither are even close to being my favourite Beatles album, but Sgt. Pepper gets my nod of the two. "Lucy in the Sky" and "A Day in the Life" are my favourite tracks on both albums and "I'm Only Sleeping" and "Love You To" my least favourite. Actually, "Love You To" reminds me of Spinal Tap's "Listen To the Flower People". Pretty easy choice for me. _________________ 100 Punk Favourites
