Naples, were you hacked?
Edit: Actually, now that I've looked at it closer, you can read it two ways:
1) An indictment of the Supreme Court for failing to step in on more egregious government actions (a quasi-libertarian view).
2) An indictment of the Supreme Court for stepping in on something trivial compared to previous government action (a liberal view).
I believe the liberal view is the intended one. Wuerker is from the left and Obama, unlike the Court and the Tea Party, is the only one not depicted as ridiculous.
Either way, it is a pretty poor political cartoon. They are not supposed to be ambiguous. In addition, the stuff on the wall is in no way similar to the government mandating citizens to purchase something.
That's way more unpacking than that thing deserved... |

So Obamacare provides health insurance to people who can't afford it, and then Obamacare declares these people unaffordable? That's weird. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring! |

Maybe instead of fighting battles that have already been fought, the elected officials should actually sit down and go over what works in the AHA and what doesn't (or what proves cost-sustainable (and what can actually help brings costs down) against what is likely to be burdensome in the future)... but then again that would require a likely... erm... C-O-M-P-R-... it's tough, that word rarely comes up anymore _________________ Strawberies...just...strawberries |
