Although I know everyone thinks U2 sold out during this point, but I just love this time in their career. Them mocking themselves and "pop"ular culture. Plus, I think this is U2's era when they truly grew artistically, not unlike the Beatles changed from a pop group to an art group.
With 10 out of 12 albums listed on the overall chart, there is a great need to overcome the bandwagon hatred for U2.
Here are the top U2 albums that made the list in order of rating, high to low:
The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
War
The Unforgettable Fire
All that you can't leave behind
Boy
How to dismantle an atomic bomb
No Line on the Horizon
Rattle & Hum
Zooropa
Missing only October and Pop- which I would replace for Unforgettable Fire and Rattle & Hum in a heart-beat.
Here are some other artists that have also been this solid, and well the not so consistently solid album makers:
Radiohead - 8/8 - wow!
Foo Fighters 5/7 (In Your Honor and One by One didn't make it)
Beatles - 11/12
Only Yellow Submarine sucked, and that really wasn't a real album effort.
Bob Dylan - nope 11/50- I think
David Bowie - nope 10/32
Pink Floyd - close - 10/20
Led Zeppelin - 9/15
Some very solid work, except a few albums, half of which weren't real album efforts as well.
Bruce Springstien - 9/20
Not a familiar enough to decide.
