It is WAY WAY better than I thought it would be... quite pleasantly surprised |
They're pretty great, the last one less so in my opinion. I was VERY doubtful about the movie being any good, but my sister has told me it actually was much better than it looks in the trailer, so I'll have to check it out. |

The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. I read a couple of really shitty, simplistically written books before this so it's nice to get back to some old school European tome that actually takes some discipline to read effectively. _________________ I love all music. Finished the last of the Hunger Games trilogy today - utterly awesome - although you were right Squishy the last book is not as good as the first two. I went to see the film too on Monday which was really good!
I have now moved onto something with a bit more substance - 'The Swimming Pool Library' - Alan Hollinghurst _________________ It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you're not

| I just finished The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I think it is one of the better books I've read. |

| Pirate Latitudes - Michael Crichton's last book before he died. It's a nice return to form after the Next dud. The pirate version of the Great Train Robbery. |

Washington Irvine - The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon
I've 'discovered' Washington Irvine in the past couple of years, mainly because he lived at the Alhambra (which is in Granada, an Andalucian city not far from me). I like his writing style, and enjoyed his Tales of the Alhambra, and Chronicle of the Conquest of Granada. |

Looking for suggestions for something new, preferably dark and comical. _________________ The silent accounts are listening. |
