Glad you wrote this because that first episode was boooring, I'd give up right now if it weren't for this comment. It'd better pick up though else I'm blaming you!

A lot of people say you need to get through the first disc (which I think is the first four episodes) but I, personally, was hooked by the end of the second episode.

For me, the end of the first episode was what kept me interested, and then from second episode onward I increasingly liked it. Maybe it's a good thing, you go watch a show based praise by pretty much everybody, then you get disappointed by its beginning, forget about all the hype, and then... It just gets better.

Four episodes in and it's ok, I mean it's not boring but I do feel like I'm forcing myself to watch it.

One thing I can say is that if this programme is anyway near reality then that's pretty fucked up.

Fight through it,please. You will not regret it.

And the shows creator David Simon based the majority of the show on real life events and people.

As much as I love the show, I can easily see how it wouldn't be someone's cup of tea. Definitely try to finish season 1, cause I think it has phenomenal pacing, but if you'll feel after the end of the season that you're still forcing yourself, then I guess it makes no sense to continue. Even if majority probably feel that it gets even better after that, but it's all made in the similar way.

Simon was a police officer and then a journalist in Baltimore; pretty much everything that happens in The Wire is a variation on an experience he's had working on both sides of the fence. And the Barksdale organization is actually based on a real-life crime family that runs the same projects that are in the show.

Well that's pretty fucked up then! How about don't put all your social housing in one area but spread it out? Just a thought.

Planning on watching at least season 1 then we'll see, it'd better pick up though.

So I finished season 1 yesterday and I have to admit I got pretty into it. Still don't reckon it's as good as people say but it's still excellent.

And I can't believe they shot that kid near the end of season 1 he was one of my favourite characters Sad

Can't wait for season 2.
