Before the Flood is a really good place to start.

I gotta agree. I heard that in his advanced years, he wasn't great live, but when he came to my town, I couldn't pass on the opportunity to see a legend. He faced the back of the stage the whole time, and his voice was so incomprehensible I had difficulty understanding which song he was playing. I love Dylan's work, I think he's one the best of all-time and continues to produce strong albums, but this was a sad display. Be forewarned.

I'm going to echo what's already been said about seeing Dylan. Don't get your hopes up. I saw him a few years back and he acted like the whole show was an inconvenience to him. I'm not sure where, exactly, he wanted to be (maybe back at the hotel watching Wheel of Fortune re-runs), but he sure didn't act like he wanted to be in front of thousands of adoring fans. I dunno...I felt snubbed (and so did most of the people around me at the concert).

I've only seen Dylan once at Earls Court, London in about 1977. It was during his 'saved' religious period. I don't remember much about it. As a Dylan-obsessed 15 year old I was happy enough just to have been in his presence. My late uncle and his then wife were fortunate enough to have met him back stage after the show due to the fact that the latter's brother was at that time Dylan's road manager. Dylan insisted that he only wanted to meet two people so I was stuck there front stage after the show waiting for them to return. I was so jealous of them. It gripes me to this day.

Might leave it so,I can only hope David Guetta is on at the same time so I can see a real performer in action.

Miss a boring old fart to see a guy playing records? Difficult choice.

I'd say Blonde On Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited are his classics. A more personal pick : Another Side of Bob Dylan.

The only logical starting point.
