Public Image Ltd's Metal Box / Second Edition (from lancashirearab's chart)
So unsure of the actual name of this, I got to a stage with the album that I was unsure of how to take it. Elements of post-punk and new wave tinged with art-rock mentalities, it was an interesting listen.
Interesting because I never could get into it. Maybe the epic 10-minute opener of Albatross threw me out or that I was listening to the album, hoping for a new post-punk obsession. Sadly, The Sound (the band) seems to keep that mantle, searching for other gems of theirs.
The key tracks for me on Metal Box (or Second Edition) were No Birds and Socialist (an instrumental), maybe because these kept to a punk-driven sound rather than trying to be "arty".
Might come back one day. Possibly when I can figure out if I have Metal Box or Second Edition. Guess if I had the vinyl (as the difference between them is 6 sides on Metal Box and 4 sides on Second Edition), my review might be clearer.

Listened to it (I haven't listened to it the whole way through, but some of the tracks I think I had listened to before)
It wasn't exactly amazing, just a pretty good album. I like it more than the Blue Album, at least. I liked the guitars on some of the tracks. Overall, a great album which deserves most of the praise it's getting. _________________ (space blank until I find suitable controversial quote)

That's not the point Eggman! It's how it runs together as a whole!

Curses, I wanted to write that I HAD not listened to it all the way through before!
And yeah, I thought of that while listening to it, because the lyrics of the songs indicated that there was this concept through it all. I liked that. _________________ (space blank until I find suitable controversial quote)

Oki, just like Mellow Yellow and Sunshine Superman, A gift from a flower to garden is... nice.
I can't bring myself to rate it more than a 75, it just bores me a little bit too much. Well, future listens might change my etc etc. |

From gussteivi's top 100: Derek & the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love 70/100
i had some trouble rating this album, because in one hand i'm not a blues fan, and in the other hand musically this album is flawless. a good album but not the kind of music i'm listening usually to. |

I have had a look at itsit's chart and I have started listening to Here's Little Richard.
This has gone straight into my 1950s chart. This album has so many great songs that I have obviously heard sometime in my life. They are just a part of our cultural heritage now. I am so glad I listened to this.
Thank you itsit. |

Well I've listened to The Suburbs and I've got to ask, why is this so highly acclaimed?
None of the songs really stick for me and the mixing doesn't do anything for me either. |

Really ? not even the fabulous : The Suburbs, Ready To Start, Deep Blue, Sprawl II ? they are all perfect.
