I would adore it whenever 'besteveralbums.com' and others would take in count the flag of : Basque people, Scottish and Welsh folks, the Flemish & Wallon people, ...

as long as those don't get their recognition i stay "stateless".

proud to be Flemish -

As a half-Scot, half-Englishman who has many Scottish family members who would never identify themselves as "British", I've argued strongly before that the site should include the ability to specify which state you identify with. So yes, I agree with you.

I am Spanish but I'm not part of the Basque country or Catalonia so I don't understand that feeling. However I respect it, and so I agree with you. Let's wait and see what the mods think about this. It is an interesting debate.

It'd be kinda cool if the albums had the flags of the country that they were made in (like, an 80's album made in modern day Russia having the Soviet flag) but then that'd probably just be too big a pain in the arse.

I'm all for this, especially since places like the Pitcairn Islands (Population 67) are in the database.

This could be nice if an artist particulary identifies as one of those. But as long these 'nations' are not official, you may actually offend some artists who wish to identify as member of the bigger nation. Most of those states wishing for independence have under 50% of the population agreeing with independence.

not exactly proud to be from either West-Flanders, Flandes, Belgium or Europe -

That's irrelevant; have you conducted a survey to see if every artist in the database identifies herself/himself as a member of the nation ascribed to him? The only point at stake here is if these groups are separate nations or not.

I think I understand what you mean on that first part. Still, it feels weird to suddenly label an artist as Flemish, while Belgium still exists (which is because a majority of Flemish people are still against separation).

Now, I reread the first post and I realised users have flags too. Fur users it is different, since they have the opportunity to choose their won flag. So I could agree on them picking a flemish, scottish etc flag. But for a band? That's a lot more difficult.
