I really don't see any reason for China going to war. I understand there's some tensions out there, but China's economic strength is enough for them to keep them from avoiding conflict. When you're already a world superpower and growing more and more prosperous, why take such a severe risk? The only reason would be war over resources.
North Korea is too politically unstable and technologically behind to really threaten anyone. It's probably more likely that they tone down their aggression and open up a bit to the rest of the world. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Their economy is strong but is built on a very fragile foundation. could crash just as easily as Americas. going to war could avoid an economic crash though

Thats reason enough. China NEEDS more natural resources, especially in the energy sector.

No
They have played the same game since kim il sung. The world pays them to keep quite. when ever north korean aid is threatened to be cut, they act up, and the world listens. Even if the west does cut aid, North korea really has no reason to stop being aggressive _________________ Alt Right meme game on point

North Korea will keep on doing what it does as long as China props it up. If China were to cut off everything the Kims would be doomed. _________________

Reference to this war as "World War III" suggests that it will be bigger than something that wasn't big enough to be World War III, namely the Cold War and now the War on Terror.
The thing is, the Cold War and the War on Terror aren't really pseudo-wars, but a collection of Wars together. The Cold War embodied big ones like Soviet Afghanistan, Korea, Vietnam, but also lesser known ones like the Mozambican Civil War (like, what?). The War on Terror looks like it's going to be the same way, hopefully with less McCarthyist policies than the Cold War, but I'm not optimistic.
So if World War III has to be bigger than the Cold War and the War on Terror to qualify as a World War, than the result is undeniable. Mutually assured destruction. _________________

I wouldn't be too worried about a new war that could qualify as World War 3. From what I've read, 2014 is one of the most peaceful years ever. Just from a quick search, here's a link to an article describing the world anno 2013, and how relatively peaceful it is compared to most years preceding it, with lots of graphs and sources: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_...ceful.html
Of course, any one horrible death or fate is one too many, as we all want peace and happiness for every human being (and animals, to a certain extent!), but the world is somehow progressing, despite the gobsmacking stupidity and ignorance on display in the news and elsewhere.
PS: Feel free to read Iain M. Banks' Culture novels for some great inspiration to where humanoids one day could end up! Great and original sci-fi novels.

I've never read any of Banks' SF stuff, but I'm a fan of his (supposedly) more conventional novels, particularly Complicity, The Crow Road, and The Wasp Factory. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
