I'm actually on your side on that - I don't believe contraception should be legal, because contraception is not a right, and neither is food or water. However, most of the people opposing the bill are just against contraception IN GENERAL - that's what I have a problem with. |

However, I do believe in programs which would make it easier for low income women to receive contraceptive.

Well, in Toronto you can get free condoms at pretty much every club, and at a lot of bars. You can get them at various University parties and events, usually in a big bowl. Health centres and hospitals also give them out for free. Hell, even my favourite poutine place downtown has a box of free condoms by the counter, from which you can just take and go.
Haven't heard of the condom vending machines before, though, but I'm sure we're working on getting some.

I live in Conservative Alberta, where we don't fund as well as the rest of the country, and we're a little more socially conservative. I think hospitals and health centres might give them out. Otherwise, we have vending machines and drug stores. I think we could stand to improve. |

| There is no good reasoning for free contraceptives. Again a case of private interest groups managing to bring about enough ruckus to affect legislation. Pathetic indeed that these are the sort of things we are debating on national news media. |
