I don't think this has been done before, if so I can't find it. I was thinking about all of the people saying it's not fair to compare Radiohead to the Beatles. But that you could compare radiohead to Pink Floyd. I had never really done this before and assumed it would be an easy victory for the Floyd. I was wrong, this was pretty close.

As I did with Judas Priest vs Metallica I put each bands albums up against each other, with an even # of albums for comparison.

RADIOHEAD

O.K. Computer
Kid A
The Bends
In Rainbows
Hail To The Thief
Amnesiac
The King Of Limbs
Pablo Honey

PINK FLOYD -( I used only albums with Roger waters on them and included the 2 albums that Syd Barrett is on)

Wish You Were Here
Dark Side Of The Moon
Animals
The Wall
Meddle
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
A Saucerful Of Secrets
Obscured By Clouds

PINK FLOYD - 33 points
RADIOHEAD - 32 points

Winner - PINK FLOYD.

If you asked me half a year ago I probably would have said Pink Floyd. Here are my top ten favourite Radiohead/Pink Floyd albums, in order:

1. Radiohead - In Rainbows
2. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
3. Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
4. Pink Floyd - Meddle
5. Radiohead - OK Computer
6. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
7. Radiohead - Amnesiac
8. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
9. Radiohead - The Bends
10. Pink Floyd - Animals

So yeah, it's a pretty close call.

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
3. Radiohead - In Rainbows
4. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
5. Radiohead - Hail To The Thief
6. Radiohead - Kid A
7. Radiohead - The Bends
8. Pink Floyd - The Division Bell
9. Radiohead - The King Of Limbs
10. Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

I have more Radiohead albums than Pink Floyd; just want to state that first. I have listened to many Pink Floyd albums but Meddle and Animals were two I never really got into. However DSOTM was probably my first favourite classic album. I remember buying it for $9 and was intrigued from the start. In regards to Radiohead, I bought Hail To The Thief first and listened to that constantly for a good few months.

I am leaning towards Radiohead but without Pink Floyd, Radiohead would have probably not existed. If they did, they wouldn't be like they are today.

Pink Floyd wins that one hands down. They made a handful of great albums (and a couple far below great), where as Radiohead still have not been able to produce a single one above average. Here are the four great albums between the two:

1. PF - Dark Side
2. PF - Animals
3. PF - Wish You Were Here
4. PF - The Wall

On my top list of artists the two can be found on the following spots:

58. Pink Floyd
413. Radiohead

I guess I don't like Radiohead much.

About equal for me, although I don't hate any Radiohead album, whereas I really can't stand the overblown and self important Wish You Were Here. Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar sound to me like the whole band were constipated when they wrote and recorded them. If music could be ugly, it would surely sound like this?

As much as I adore Radiohead, Pink Floyd is infinitely better.

Dark Side of the Moon might be the most important album ever, and Piper and and The Wall aren't too far off that. The Bends and OK Computer are amazing, but they pale in comparison to the Floyd.

2) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
3) Pink Floyd - The Wall
4) Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
5) Radiohead - The Bends
6) Pink Floyd - Animals
7) Radiohead - In Rainbows
Cool Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
9) Pink Floyd - Meddle
10) Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
