I do want to bring up that very little of the debt really has to do with Obama.
I mean, I'm against his entitlement programs too, but that REALLY isn't the root of this problem.

You do understand, don't you, that the debt has risen every single year since 1976, right? Under every President since Ford. Except for one year: 2000 under Clinton.
You also understand that in the last year of the Bush 2 Presidency, the debt growth percentage of 16% was the highest it had been since under Reagan in 1984?
Since the Presidency of Jimmy Carter, here are the debt increase percentages for each President during their terms in office:
Reagan: Up 189%
Bush 2: Up 89%
Bush 1: Up 55.6%
Carter: Up 42%
Obama: Up 41%
Clinton: Up 36%
The rate of debt growth in the 3 years Obama has been in office has decreased from the 16% under Bush in 2008 to 15% in 2009, 14% in 2010, and 8% in 2011.
So, yes. While the debt has increased under Obama, it's also increased under everyone else. Just more under the Republican administrations. So trying to blame Obama for an increase in debt holds no merit. |
