but you're excluding Portishead, Pixies, Arcade Fire, White Stripes, Nico and Sonic Youth.
i'm kind of surprised by this though. no Bjork? no Nina? no Cocteau? no Kate Bush? no etc.? that's whack. |
I guess I was leaning toward female solo acts and not just a part of wider bands like the first 6 you mentioned. And yeah, Homogenic or Hounds of Love should make the cut (easy!), especially considering an album like Low is included in the 60s but not Blue. Not saying either one is better atm. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

Yeah, next to Joni the highest rated solo female album is Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love at 121.
After that it's Björk's Homogenic.
Those, along with Ys and Horses are the only ones in our top 200.
Add Amy and we're at 250.

I adore Ys but I don't know whether its objective 100 material. Horses should be a definite placeholder though. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

Is this supposed to be a personal attack or something.

No not at all. Just looking around on this particular thread and I feel like not everyone would want it in the top 100. In my own personal version, it would be included. After all, its my favourite of its respective year of release and by extension, one of my favourites from the 00s itself. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

I was just kidding of course No hard feelings.
I'd love to see some Nina Simone or Billie Holiday in our top 100, but I don't think that'll happen... ever... Nina isn't even in our top 1000

The clear number one to me is The Stone Roses. Just plain bad. Like really really really bad. Only three others I find objectionable are Daydream Nation, Illinois, and Pink Moon. Lots of the Top 100 isn't in my personal top 100, which is how I think things should be. It would be boring if it lined up perfectly. However, to my mind, those albums just don't belong. Especially The Stone Roses. That album is so awful. One of the 3 worst albums I've ever heard awful. Daydream Nation and Illinois aren't too far behind.

Decided to relisten to The Stone Roses because I realized it had been a while since I listened to it. Not as bad as I remembered it being. So Daydream Nation is my choice, and I recently tried listening to it to no avail.

it probably doesn't help that Nina doesn't have a clear-cut magnum opus. she's got about a dozen records that should be in the top 1000, and most of us folks only add one album per artist in our greatest things people lists. the one in my chart isn't even in anyone else's top 100 :/ _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
