Im 100% in favor of high gas prices. The only way Americans pull their heads out of there asses, and push for real change, is when it hurts their pocketbooks. We need to end the need for all this oil altogether.

Oh and by the way who didn't see the raised prices coming once Obama denied the Keystone Pipeline. Oil companies getting political payback at the expense of the middle/lower class once again.

Totally agree with Johnny Flynn. I'm not there now though. How much is gas these days?

Sounds about like it was for the last 5-10 years. I'm not really sure the president can do a whole lot to control gas costs any way. Someone in the oil business, whether it's in the US or in the Middle East is going to make a massive profit and gouge consumers no matter what. That game has been rigged for some time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain during the second Bush term, gas prices were about that high too. But conservative Obama bashers will use anything in their arsenal to attack him, inconvenient facts be damned.

Shankly, didn't you say you agreed with Flynn, who wants higher prices? Wouldn't that lead to more gouging?

What I agree with is that America needs to move away from its high dependence on oil (especially, foreign oil) and start to embrace alternative energy sources more. Even more so, there are things people can do to reduce their individual oil consumption, but they often don't do it. He's right, in that most Americans don't want to change their lifestyle, unless it's made convenient for them and/or they are forced to do so, economically. Bill Maher has made this argument as well and I agree with it.

I'm guessing this statement is some kind of attack toward me, but I don't really get the logic behind it. Confused

The price has been going up and down as it always does. Three years ago it was a buck less than it is now, and I do believe the ups tend to stay longer in people's minds. People in general aren't happy if there's nothing to complain about.

Also, the fundamentalist on either side will blame everything that goes wrong on the other side. Not very constructive and quite frankly showing something of a lack in the ability to draw conclusions and evaluate situations, but that's not likely to change. It is easier to take a stand and defend it to death no matter what than to look into how things really work and draw conclusions from that.
