The Beatles had no completely killer album, except MAYBE Abbey Road. |

It actually put me off Neil's work for a period. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

Harvest isn't ruined by the orchestral parts; even if those were gone it would be ruined by the fact that it just doesn't have any good songs. Heart of Gold is really the only one I'd ever want to hear again but compared to pretty much anything off On the Beach and Tonight's the Night it doesn't hold up. The orchestral parts are just the most egregious songs on it.
Here's one that I've been championing for awhile: there is no filler on 69 Love Songs. By which I mean, though there are some obviously worse songs on the album, what makes the album great is just how expansive and varied it is. And if you cut it down to an hour long album I definitely wouldn't like it as much. And as far as best songs on the album go, I Shatter is top 15. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. Harvest is an incredible album (outside of the annoying sweeping melodrama of A man needs a maid or whatever). The opening track has a great cold intensity i love. Heart of Gold is a classic. Old Man is a downright heartbreaking song that nails a connection between father and son. The Needle and the damage done is brilliant, the title track is gorgeous. It's a 9/10 album. Y'all are smoking crack or something.
Oh and "Enema of the State" is one of the greatest pop albums, rock albums, and (I guess it kind of falls into this category) punk albums ever made. The run from the opener "Dumpweed" through track 8 "All the Small Things" is perfection. It builds on itself each track. There's an interesting growth in the "main character" throughout. That's how I imagine it anyway. It's absolutely fabulous. I'll admit the last 4 tracks don't keep up the greatness. _________________ -Ryan

A possible contender for "best intro to every song ever" imo. Strong album, not his best, but very good.

Oh I agree, I just think it would be better without the orchestrations. _________________ All time

Harvest is musical bliss. Anybody who thinks it doesn't have any good songs or is "ruined" can go fuck off.
