Since most of us avoid adding compilations to our charts like the plague, I thought it would be fun to do a list exclusively made up of comps! I'm gonna do my top 25, but feel free to leave it at 10 (or go all the way to 100!). Criteria include the album's cohesiveness and artistic integrity, as well as comprehensiveness and overall quality of material. This is geared toward my personal taste too, so, to each his pwn. [Anthologies not included]

My Top 25 Compilations:
25. Billy Joel - Greatest Hits
24. The Birthday Party - Hits
23. Lifter Puller - Soft Rock
22. The Misfits - Static Age
21. Nirvana - Nirvana
20. The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow
19. Black Sabbath - We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll
18. The Embarrassment - Heyday
17. The Who - Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy
16. The Kinks - The Kink Kronikles
15. Nirvana - Incesticide
14. The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks
13. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works '85-'92
12. Blue Oyster Cult - Workshop of Telescopes
11. Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience
10. Iron Maiden - Best of the Beast
9. Leonard Cohen - The Essential Leonard Cohen
8. The Beatles - 1962-1966 (The Red Album)
7. Violent Femmes - Add It Up (1981-1993)
6. Judas Priest - Metal Works
5. Neil Young - Decade
4. The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
3. New Order - Substance
2. The Beatles - 1967-1970 (The Blue Album)
1. Joy Division - Substance

I don't think that one is a compilation. "Classics" is a great comp by Aphex Twin, though.

Over the years,
Sugar Ray, has put out enough solid songs to make a great compilation album,
Sinead O'conner has a good one two.
The black Crowes live albums are pretty much greatest hits and are great.
Wings greatest hits is really good.
Squeez, the singles is a great listen
For metal bands Saliza and Ratt have good ones.
Any of the Rockabye baby albums, start with journed, beatles or GNR.
