Thanks Smile Here's some more then. Today's listens :

Tom Waits, Bad As Me. The man's in top shape. Great record, it's been on my MP3 most-listened to for a few weeks now.

Bola Sete, Ocean Memories (1st listen). Very nice guitar solo bossa compilation. I'll dig into what this guy has released.

The Fugs, The Village Fugs Sing Ballads of Contemporary Protest, Point of Views, and General Dissatisfaction (1st listen). (I know). Parody has its limitations. Some of this is funny, some plain boring ("Nothing" is really too self-indulgent). Not as good as The Fugs.

Meat Puppets, Too High To Die. The album has its moment, but on the whole it's a more laid-back, less energetic album than the others I know. Still some very good numbers on this, most notably the countriest ones (check out that wondrous "Shine" ballad).

Cluster, Sowiesoso (1st listen). Unfortunately, I put this on on my way to a nap. I must play it again, which is a good thing for through the haze of that slumberous hour, what I did manage to gather was that it felt incredibly good to listen to this.

The Meteors, Stampede (1st listen). If you're into psychobilly, this is the shit. It's like the Cramps, only less refined, less lushly produced (i.e. less echo basically). Fine, but a bit overlong.

Traffic, Traffic. 5 very good songs, the rest I'm not interested in. "You Can All Join In" is wonderful, but it's deceptive: nothing sounds quite like it on the remainder of the material.

Esquerita!, Esquerita! (1st listen). I wasn't too thrilled. Raw, piano-driven rock n'roll, but it's an uneven compilation. The earlier stuff has its moments, the later is a bit sad really.

The Missing Links, The Missing Links (1st listen). Good Australian psych/garage rock, circa 65-66. "Australian" is a detail, nothing typical in this, it's your average garage band (which means it's good), only production is even more sloppy than on any garage song I've heard. More like bunker rock really.

Wolf Eyes, Burned Mind (1st listen). Noise, I sort of liked it, but my ears aren't knowledgeable enough to differentiate this from any other noise/drone record. The distinguishable element seems to be that you can hear a voice mumbling at times. Still, it's interesting, and enjoyable even.

On the whole : nothing glorious (except Waits, but I knew this already), but nothing bad either. Best discovery : Bola Sete. Will not listen to some more: Esquerita!

Never did I think to find someone else on BEA listening to The Meteors... tht has just made my day Norman! Very Happy

I was listening to 'Wreckin' Crew' this morning on the train. I still prefer The Cramps and Birthday Party - but The Meteors are the bomb and just the thing to get you all psyched up of a morning Very Happy

Absolutely. I plan on listening to some more Meteors in the days to come, as you said, it really gets you in the right mood. I rocked through the housework Smile
