I'm sure you googled it already, but last time I filled my truck up I paid $3.96 per gallon. That translates to:

USD 1.04 per liter, or
GBP 0.67 per liter, or
EUR 0.79 per liter.

Relatively inexpensive from an international point of view but relatively expensive from what it was just a few years ago. It should be noted though that most of the difference between the US gas price and the European gas prices is taxes. According to some these taxes have been put in place to promote the environment, according to others they have been put in place because those who hiked them taxes could.

67p?! Surprised Surprised Surprised

You're fucking kidding me right? We pay around 139p at the moment, most of this cost is in taxes yes.

Nuclear power is much more powerful than oil/coal/gas.

The statement and the graph don't relate to each other.

The fact that nuclear generated electricity accounts for 6% of production means what? In France the figure is more like 80% and they're just fine.

It is, but it has a similar problem that fossil fuels have - it is relying on a finite resource. If we replaced our reliance on oil with nuclear, we would soon find our sources of uranium were quickly depleted. The solution lies with slowing weaning ourselves off oil before it becomes prohibitively expensive (or the environment is completely shot) and seeking renewable energy (Solar, Wind, Geothermal). The more we use these sources of energy, the more affordable they will become.

Nuclear would stay for quite a while, which would give us more time to devleop renewable energy sources.

That would be the best way to use it. Zero carbon emissions is nice as well... Anything to get us off our fossil fuels addiction... ...and I live in Alberta, where our bread it buttered by oil and gas.
