Well, they were pretty good considering your personal taste. Fleet Foxes is now one of my favourite records of these past few years and there are a couple off odd tracks from some of the others you mentioned which have entered the rotation on my mp3 player, but I still haven't found anything majorly compelling yet.

Your criteria's pretty hard to meet, but I'll throw some bands out there for you to sample (some I like, some just so-so and none really are my favorites):
Hoodoo Gurus
Soup Dragons
The Farm
Longpigs
Stereo MCs

They're somewhat along the lines of your criteria...loosely...but as I said, "Smashing Pumpkins only more psychedelic" is kind of a tough one.

Unless you count the Monkees track "Daily Nightly"' Wink
