And people who lose their sight don't get depressed?
I'd struggle to find life worth living without being able to see.
Sure smell's important, but being able to do nothing but smell stuff wouldn't be much fun would it? _________________ Shut up mate you're boring! |

My dog Cookie would disagree.

40% of her brain is dedicated to smell, in fact. |

Losing your sense of smell also kind of means you would lose your sense of taste as well because they are a bit related.
Imagine how crap things will taste if you can't smell them?
I would hate to lose any of my senses - I genuinely can't imagine life without sounds, colours, taste, aromas and sensuality... _________________ It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you're not

We can shut our eyes and see it sucks, we can block our ears and see how difficult life would be and we even get colds, lose our sense of smell and realise how inconvenient it is. But we have never lost our sense of touch. We think it would be ok, but we've never really experienced it. No wind on our skin, no sense of warm or cool, no textures... we have no idea how crazy we'd go without these common experiences. So how can we know? I reckon you'd be darn depressed not being able to FEEL anything!! _________________ I go through all this before you wake up |

If you have no sense of touch, you can literally stick your hand in the fire and watch it burn... you wouldn't feel it!

I literally have about 20% smell capacity. I can taste just fine. And I'm quite the opposite of depressed. So yeah. Fuck smelling things. _________________ Spring break... forever

How do you know you taste just fine? You don't know any different....
One of my brothers has synesthesia and thought for the first 15 or so years of his life that everyone saw numbers and letters in colour just like he did. He didn't know any different until someone told him!
So maybe how you taste chicken, doesn't taste how chicken tastes for the rest of us at all... who knows! _________________ It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you're not
