The Smiths only have 4 studio albums so there's really no excuse. Although saying that Hatful of Hollow is pretty much essential as is one of either of the later compilations, still that's only 6 cds.
As far as essential compilations go these are the bands where I've downloaded completely everything, like demos, Bsides, live sets everything.
Joy Division
The Libertines
Nirvana
The Pixies
The Prodigy
The Smiths
None of these have huge discographys though. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring! |

| Though I haven't heard their entire discography, I'm pretty sure that it's worth it to own everything by Queen. |

For me:
Smashing Pumpkins (that's including all b-sides, unrealeased, demo and rare tracks)
Pearl Jam (the same as above)
Sonic Youth
De La Soul
Beatles
Wilco
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Black Keys
R.E.M.
White Stripes
J. Cash
Rolling Stones (still working my way through this one)
i have many more complete discographies of artists (it's in another thread somewhere on here*), but these are the important ones to me...

Hey thanks for these links. Had I searched for discography in the titles I would have missed them (as I did when I started this thread, although it is slightly different.)
I am surprised by some of the choices and reminded of a few that are great. Thanks! |

No, not really.
More than half their albums are either terrible or just plain average. |
