is VU without John Cale not VU?
is King Crimson without Greg Lake or John Wetton not King Crimson?
is AC/DC without Bopn Scott not AC/DC?
all 3 continued to release well received albums after principle members leaving, I don't like all (or any in AC/DC's case) of the albums released but my opinion of it doesn't change musical history; |
In VU's case, I'd say after Reed it wasn't VU.
Ya got a point there with King Crimson.
And with AC/DC (a bit). _________________ (space blank until I find suitable controversial quote)

| I say, Piper is not a proper Pink Floyd album but a Syd Barrett solo effort. |

So Pink Floyd without Barret would be a Waters solo record (ex terrible)

You know, it's probably just me, but I really don't get what you're trying to say here

DSotM was your #1 album once FFS! When did you decide it wasn't cool enough for your musical taste?
All I wanted to say: Pink Floyd were supposed to be a band, not just Syd's solo project. So even if he was the frontman, he wasn't the only one in the band, and to say that all albums post Piper "aren't actually Pink Floyd", you're doing injustice to other members. Especially since most of the albums after Piper (until Animals or The Wall at least) were actual "group efforts".
(and unlike VU's "Squeeze" for example, which was basically solo effort by some dude that wasn't even in the band for the first two albums) |

I just overplayed it I think, I listened to it one day and just couldn't stand it. Still love The Great Gig In The Sky though

I think you are missing the part where I was making a joke. Roger Waters is the first name that comes to mind when reading the title of this thread _________________ The silent accounts are listening. |
