Björk plays football, not soccer.

Don't forget Urdu: فٹ بال
Though it is pronounced almost exactly the same as the English word. _________________

| A Slovenian word for it is "nogomet", but I think most people here call it with the german word "Fußball" ("fuzbal" if I tried to write it in slovenian. Not grammatically correct of course) |

Yes rugby is called rugby everywhere only there are two different codes of rugby, rugby union and rugby league, which have a few major differances between them. Rugby union is the most widely played across the globe although rugby league is more popular in certain areas like some parts of Australia and NZ and parts of northern England.
One might call rugby 'rugger' only if one is the type of person who wears a barbour jacket and sends his darlings to one of the finest schools in the country. At Eton I've no doubt they play 'rugger' instead of rugby, to the plebs it's just rugby
As for whether it's football or soccer, well obviously where I'm from it's football. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring! |

Interestingly the upcoming Olympics has to be Britain's football team, not England or Scotland, such as the World Cup or European Championships. _________________ » Woodstock is fuckin’ nothing if you’ve been at the Midnight Sun Film Festival » – D.A. Pennebaker |

Yes this is true and has caused alot of problems for the four football associations which make up the UK, alot of politics over who gets picked etc and the effect it might have on the associations status as independent teams (importantly each with a vote at FIFA).
This is why GB hasn't had a football team at the olympics for decades, too much politics. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring! |
