If the elite edit the candidates, it sounds like a communist election where you can only vote for the state choices. If we already know the winners why have the tourney?

We don't know the winners. But we know the albums that actually have a chance. It's just pure reason. Maxxy gets it and he's trimming it down. So just stop.

Who initially thought BO had a chance or that McCain would be the GOP candidate?

If you want to eliminate multiple albums from artists have an initial runoff against the artists' own albums.

Comparing the presidential campaign to an internet forum tourney. Yeah, those things work exactly the same way.

Having a runoff is just wasting time, when an artist's most popular albums on this site, as well as outside this site, is pretty much common knowledge. Kind of Blue, Bitches Brew, In a Silent Way, his most popular and most acclaimed works actually have a chance of making it pretty far; Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965, Someday My Prince Will Come, Dark Magus, all of which are relatively obscure and do not even appear on any charts on this site, obviously have no chance of winning.

I don't understand you.

It is amazing that she who made no nominations wants to control who and how we vote.

I made no nominations because most of the ones I would nominate were already mentioned. For my other favorites, which are pretty obscure, I'm not going to kid myself into thinking they actually have a chance.

Again, Maxxy understands my point, and he's taken it into consideration. Bye.

Live at the Plugged Nickel '09. Yes We Can! This will finally be remembered as the year that Change came to the jazz cannon. I'm so hopeful, I can't even tell you.

***
4 years later, after actually listening to the album

Goddamn, Live at the Plugged Nickel is just like all the rest of those lousy *incoherent drunken muttering*. We shoulda stuck with that other guy, what's his name. A Love Supreme. Now he was alright. At least the drumming was tight.

***
40 years later, as an old fat man

Why back in my day there was no robot dogs. Everybody had real dogs. Not to mention the music was better. Why back in my day, we used to listen to Live at the Plugged Nickel. Now THERE was a jazz album.

Perhaps a fast way would be to have the members cast one vote for 10 or 20 different albums on the full list of nominations. We could then just list the "winners" by total number of votes received. If necessary and desired we could have one more vote to attempt to break ties.
