hi, Pitchfork have always been my favorite outlet for music reviews, and their my go to page for new music. This week they released their list The Top 200 Albums of the 00s. Personally i think its the best anyone will do with this sort of list, for this decade. My only two complaints are how low The Glow, Pt. 2 by The Microphones was (#73), and one of the rules of the list was every band had a 3 album maximum, that means Strawberry Jam was not one of the Animal Collective albums that made it although i believe it to be their best. But The Moon & Antarctica being #6 mad me forgive them.

Here is the top twenty (you can go to pitchfork for the whole 200):
20. Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
19. Spoon - Kill The Moonlight
18. Late Registration - Kanye West
17. LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
16. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
15. Silent Shout - The Knife
14. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
13. Outkast - Stankonia
12. The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
11. Ghostface Killer - Supreme Clientele
10. The Avalanches - Since I Left You
9. Panda Bear - Person Pitch
8. Sigur Ros - Ágætis Byrjun
7. The Strokes - Is This It?
6. Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica
5. Jay-Z - The Blueprint
4. Wilco - Yankee Foxtrot Hotel
3. Daft Punk - Discovery
2. Arcade Fire - Funeral
1. Radiohead - Kid A

The Moon & Antarctica at #6 had me jumping up and down

pretty good list. my complaints were that they had the nationals "alligator" above "boxer" (baffling) and im pretty sure i didnt see the unicorns on the list.

i dont always agree with their reviews, but i think pitchfork is a pretty good source of music, new and old...especially now that they let you listen to all the albums they review so you can form your own opinion.

Is that a euphemism for : What the hell is "Ys" doing at n°83 ????

I actually like Pitchfork's decade lists and not so much the yearly ones.
I confirm : the Unicorns ARE missing !
I'm also missing Sigur Ros's "Takk..." which I've come to prefer over "Agaetis Byrjun", but then "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" in the top 10 kind of calls for forgiveness.

And here's to celebrate The Avalanches at n°10 (one of my favourite videos EVER) :

Interesting list. The number one is not a shock. Highly regarded and one that would make other top 5s on other sites for the 2000s. Very different to the top 20 on this site for the 2000s. The Strokes' Is This It is the site's number one at the moment, beating Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head and Parachutes.

I don't know if it's white guilt, hipster irony, or just some attempt to broaden their audience by showing people they're "in touch," but their hip hop choices are always horrible. I haven't heard most of the 200, though, so I can't tell if this list is good or not.

I have to agree, their hip hip choices sometimes seem quite random amongst their indie picks.

HAHAHAHAH! So true man, so true.

Ive always loved how Pitchfork instills the fear in the common hipster of any music remotely accessible unless its aggressively vapid.
