Joanna I had never even heard of Jobriath, thanks for the intro. His story is pretty fascinating and the little bit of the music I've now heard is surprisingly solid. |
Yeah, I recently read about him and picked up his debut. Most of it sounds like fairly entertaining David Bowie and Elton John impersonations, but there are a few songs that are really good on there.

My first thought is Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. Great stuff really.
They Might Be Giants.
Kayak - Royal Bed Bouncer
And I always get shit for my LOVE of God Shuffled His Feet. That guy with the low voice, Brad, wrote some great songs there! Many might call it ridiculous, I just can't.
Zappa of course, sublime ridiculousness.
Roxy Music - In Every Dream Home a Heartache - wild tune!

It sucks...but it's amazing as hell. (As long as you don't have GREAT EXPECTATIONS) get it? |

I actually wouldn't put They Might Be Giants or Crash Test Dummies into this category - neither are ridiculous, just different, and somewhat humorous. I also am quite fond of God Shuffled His Feet, incidentally. _________________ <(: @ >

I definitely agree that Zappa and Cpt. Beefheart both fall into this category, cause you know, a squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous, got me?
To Purple: I agree Locust Abortion Technician is the best Butthole Surfers album, but I've mentioned it a lot on this site and have it on my list so I figured I'd switch it up for the hell of it.
