^ oh sorry missed the above. Well we had one middle aged white guy we voted for back in 2010 he was crazy popular at first (partly because he was amicable and partly because he loved strippers) and then people (as they always do when the honeymoon ends) began to sour. His Deputy, some ginger lady, decided that he couldn't run the country properly and contested his leadership. It seemed the party agreed with her and she got the top job. A few months later the national election came up and she was up against another middle aged white guy only this guy was creepy as fuck. The election results came back 50/50 (basically the country saying we don't want these polished turds) but then 3 (apparently 3rd party) white guys decided for the whole country it was the ranga what won. She had a few good years, was pretty unpopular because she said the same things the middle aged white guys would have but she had a vagina and therefore it was much worse. So she brought the leadership approval rating down to some all time lows because Australia is filled with greedy, sexist, homophobic racists. Remember that first middle aged white guy? Well the whole time ginger pubes was in office he constantly had to refute claims that he was going to try and take the priminstership back. Well in June he took it back because the labor party started to back away from the ginge because of course they were daunted by the polls. So he came back and well..he actually became a lot grosser. He couldn't decide where he stood on most policies and whilst trying to please everyone and make a calculated victory at the next election he decided to spit on basic human rights for immigrants coming to Australia.

So now we're where we are. Tomorrow it looks like that creepy as fuck middle aged white dude from back in 2010 will defeat the incumbent middle aged white dude. And he's much worse. He's 50% Baddie and 50% baddie. I'd get on a boat and leave the country but he'll probably buy them all before I ca get one.

The Australian election has actually had some minor television coverage here in the US. Both Jon Stewart and Steve Colbert appear to like the idea of doing the election for a few weeks instead of a few years as here, and both of them have provided much amusement with some clips of candidates that rival Sarah Palin in stupidity. I recall a young lady that referenced Islam as a country and Jews as followers of Jesus, and some bloke with a five-point plan who even when pressed on it couldn't recite a single point from that plan. Great fun. No idea who is actually in the works for winning or who runs the place currently.

I saw John Oliver covering some, that was pretty beautiful actually a few things I hadn't known about (like the guy putting his dick in a wine glass) but that woman ugh I hope it drove home to some people how ignorance breeds hatred. That five point plan thing was hilarious and indicative of how Liberals (Our right wing party is called The Liberal Party here just to confuse people)run their campaign - A lot of time spent on pointing out problems in the country, very little on solutions. Still they'll get in.
