Some of my favourite quotes from our possible future prime minister.

"I think there does need to be give and take on both sides, and this idea that sex is kind of a woman’s right to absolutely withhold, just as the idea that sex is a man’s right to demand I think they are both they both need to be moderated, so to speak."

"If we’re honest, most of us would accept that a bad boss is a little bit like a bad father or a bad husband … you find that he tends to do more good than harm. He might be a bad boss but at least he’s employing someone while he is in fact a boss."

"I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons."

"The argument [behind climate change] is absolute crap. However, the politics of this are tough for us. Eighty per cent of people believe climate change is a real and present danger."

On asylum seekers: "Jesus knew that there was a place for everything and it’s not necessarily everyone’s place to come to Australia."

"I won't be rushing out to get my daughters vaccinated [for cervical cancer], maybe that's because I'm a cruel, callow, callous, heartless bastard but, look, I won't be."

"There may not be a great job for [aboriginal people] but whatever there is, they just have to do it... And if it's picking up rubbish around the community, it just has to be done."

On the death of an Australian soldier in Afghanistan: "Shit happens"

"Abortion is the easy way out. It’s hardly surprising that people should choose the most convenient exit from awkward situations."

Wow. it's good to know that US politicians aren't the only misogynistic bigots in the world.

Voted for the Greens today, but I think next election I'll spend more time researching every party and vote below the line. I feel terrible having to compulsorily vote and not knowing anything about most of the candidates.

We've now received the election results. Tony Abbott won.

We were on the brink of social progress, but the possibilty of that is now gone. Fuck this. I'm moving to Canada.

I voted below the line putting all of the Liberal candidates right at the bottom. I couldn't believe how many crazy nutter right wing parties there were this year. 'Population Control' 'Rise Up' 'Stop The Greens' 'Climate Change Sceptics' were just a few. I ended up, for the first time since I've been able to vote, putting Greens second to Labour only because I so badly did not want Abbott in any sort of position of power. It was not even close to enough and now it seems Liberal have way too big a representation in the House and the Senate.

My sentiments align with Squishy's: Fuck this (country). I'm moving to Canada.

Wait, how exactly does Australia's voting system work? You rank the candidates?

Also, I've been threatening with moving to Canada for years now! But I'm not sure if it's all what Jack is trying to show it as (but hey at least we're gonna have fun if we're all going : p )

Careful guys... Canada has Stephen Harper. And Rob Ford. And Rob Anders. We're hardly a beacon of Liberal open-mindedness.

That said, we could use a few more citizens that have good taste in music and don't vote stupidly. Please come. Move to Calgary. Our mayor is fantastic. http://o.canada.com/2013/05/29/rob-ford...-jealousy/
