This is developing as we speak, but the short version is that there were multiple explosions at the Boston Marathon about an hour ago. I think this is probably the best forum for this, but it may get moved to Random eventually.
Please try to be civilized, especially when the news part has passed and we move into whatever political discussion evolves out of this.
Reddit seems to be the best place to get a lot of information at once. If you've never used Reddit before, you can change the post view to "new" if you want the newest info listed. THERE ARE NUMEROUS NSFW PICTURES THERE, BUT THEY ARE MOSTLY LABELED - BE WARNED SOME OF THEM ARE PRETTY GRAPHIC.
This is a tragedy. I really hope there will be no more casualties, as for the families of the deceased, my deepest condolences... Oh, I really don't know what to say, it really doesn't matter since words can't prevent anything. Why did this happen at all?

In an event such as this where there is so much confusion, it can be hard to tell. Hospitals are probably getting lots of emergency calls, and they may not even know who some victims are.
It's tough on people trying to contact family and friends and figure out if everyone is okay, but it's also tough for paramedics and hospitals to operate and treat patients in time, let alone give press reports.

It doesn't seem as if anyone has claimed the attack, although I think typically if it was an attack of terror, the responsible party wouldn't be out there bragging about it. It does seem like an attack of terror, mainly just due to the planning involved in setting up explosives. An individual effort would be much less concerted.

An attack of terror doesn't have to be an individual. Btw, if this act of terror was from a foreign force, it is very likely that they would be claiming the attack, since they would be trying to make a point. _________________
