Heaven? Music is heaven. Pet Sounds is heaven for example.

Even if everything about religion is wrong, that heavy weight still should remain in the society and individuals in one form or another (not necessarily stemming from fear though but what replaces it can be called anxiety or worry or whatever you prefer). So Foucault can fuck himself off.

I think AlvaroArana's general post is proof that the pompous atheist is just as bad as the zealous theist.

well said.

It reminds me of young punk kids who wear the Anarchy symbol as a flag, and talk ignorantly about bringing down the government to create a Nihilistic society. Yet they understand none of it.

I find it difficult to trust anyone who exists too far on the fringes of belief. Close-mindedness creates monsters.

Very strangely atheism is still considered by otherwise intelligent people to be on the fringe of society (or maybe it is just the vocal otherwise intelligent ones. According to this poll 49% are atheists). If rhyme and reason was really the rule any sort of religious belief would be considered fringeworthy instead.

Oh well. Goes to show the power of tradition.

Yep, but CofE. Was a weird service though, at one point we all had to decide whether to send Michael Gove, education secretary, to the 'tree of glory' or the 'pit of doom' by shouting one or the other at the vicar while a montage of pictures of Michael Gove pulling weird faces rolled behind on the projector, surreal.

Though, at one point vicar was talking about how the church needs to learn to be less exclusive, and particularly mentioned women bishops and same sex partners, which I thought was actually pretty cool. I always imagine when I'm in church that I'm surrounded by homophobes but maybe that's not actually so true.
