Album: You Are No One.
Artist: An Ant And An Atom
Label: Self Released
Released: January 7th, 2014
Country: Canada
This is the album that stood out the most of the few I've listened these past two weeks. I was originally going to recommend some modern classical, but I enjoy this one more with each listen to the point it's my favorite out of the little that's come from 2014 so far. It's a mixture of ambient and mellow drone with some parts feeling slightly glitchy. It qualifies as experimental yet it's very friendly and easy to get. Pretty relaxing and easy to get lost in, I've actually fallen asleep to it for a couple of nights. It takes turns between soft ambientish soundscapes and slight melodic crescendos which work really well. Enjoy!
You can find it for free here.

Very drone based album/ep(?), which is not a bad thing.
Good for background music while internetting. The atmosphere reflects a spring type feeling. Outside this week will be 40 degrees Celsius for most days. Yay!
EDIT: Writing was done before fourth track. A nice change!

Ah, Australia. Does it ever freezes there?

Well in my current location, rain goes sideways at times and a top temperature of 12 Celsius.
But for the most, hot.

Downloaded this when you mentioned it the other day. A quality ambient listening experience with a dark tone. I really like the effect of the combination of the rumbling fuzz and church organ sound on Metallergies.

Bit too left of field for my taste, and the music that sat behind it felt a little bit too simple to make me want to stop and listen closer.
A good atmosphere though, so it definitely accomplished what I think it wanted to do, and I didn't think it outstayed its welcome with it's short runtime.
60/100

I have told my self that I will participate in the discussions for each of these albums, but I dont know how to discuss this kind of music. I've listened twice, and it just doesn't hold my attention. If the intention of the album is to be background or environmental music, then I understand it a little bit more. But even still there is other types of music i would rather have on in the back ground.
I don't mean to offend, but will someone please explain this "ambient" music to me? How is the sound produced? Are the songs actually written or is it more improvisational?
For those who truly enjoy it will you please explain to me how it makes you feel, or what specifically it is that you find appealing.
I'm honestly not writing this for any other reason than to gain an appreciation for a style of music that seems to be quite popular. _________________

For me, ambient music is really hit or miss, it's a delicate balance. It can either be really good or boring as shit. I love listening to ambient music while I study or read or something, it's the best way to totally absorb the music. It's tough to explain, but sometimes ambient music can be incredibly impressive (e.g. Eno's ambient stuff).
That was probably poorly worded. _________________ 2023 Chart
