Mind-bending poetry and a relaxing voice. what a combination.

There's something about this record that I simply can't put my finger on. Maybe that's what makes it so good.

Oh Leonard... Who knew that the world's sexiest poet was from Canada? Well I guess he is from Montreal... How many ladies fell apart and were seduced while listening to his deep voice weave sultry descriptions of love and life? How many ladies did he seduce? Forget Wilt Chamberlain or Sammy Hagar - Leonard Cohen must have had game.

This, the best Leonard Cohen album, focuses on individual angst that rank amongst the greatest poems put to music ever recorded. His songs have a classical and infinite purity and tenderness about them as a result of a combination of an almost whispered singing style and beautifully measured musical arrangements. Key track: Winter Lady.

Song for song this is L. Cohen's best collection of songs. At the time of it's release Cohen was already a published and widely acknowledged poet and writer. He is still the most "poetic" songwriter and at the time of this writting Cohen is 77 years old and is nearing the end of a grueling 2 year world tour where he sold every show.... and most of the adoring fans at the show I attended were under the age of 30.

Contains the classics Suzanne and Sisters of Mercy, and the devastatingly beautiful One of Us Cannot Be Wrong. A very strong debut, although better albums would follow.
