A masterpiece. By far their best work.
I worked as a buyer for one of the largest record chains in the midwest in the 70s.."Close to the edge", although their best album completely bombed but "fragile" which in my opinion is not nearly as good, sold very well as did "the yes album".
I don't really like this. It's progressive rock and that's not my thing. Not much else to say about it.
For any non-Yes fan, it's a decent album. For any Yes fan, this album will at least be a 90/100.
Very artistic! true Prog album
Best track: Close to the Edge: The Solid Time of Change/Total Mass Retain/I Get Up
A fav from the long list of 70's prog. And You And I is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
I'm sure this has been done a million times, but I'm going to do it anyway.
"Hey, what are you listening to?"
"Yes."
"Ok, what are you listening to?"
"Yes."
"Dude, answer me...what are you listening to."
"I just told you twice."
"No, you didn't tell me at all."
"Yes, I did."
"What are you listening to?"
"Yes."
"WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO?"
"I am listening to Yes."
"That doesn't even make any sense."
"Yes, it does."
"Why do you not want to tell me who you are listening to?"
"I've told you several times who I am listening to.
"Who then?"
This band called Yes. Not the Globberschmoggles, or anything like that.
"The who?"
"No, Yes"
"No, Yes.."
"Yes, not The Who, Yes."
"I'm going to fucking murder you."
Wonderful album. Just can't fault it.
Best Yes album ever. Arguably best progressive rock album of all time. All of that in only three tracks! Masterpiece.
