Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.9/100, a mean average of 75.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

There’s something very unaffected and natural about Sampha’s musical process, in his songwriting, lyricism and production. Process is a confident, heartfelt debut that makes it clear he’ll be one to watch for a long time.
A nice-enough subdued R&B record, but ultimately fails to leave an impression and is honestly quite forgettable.
An album laced with emotion. This genre is becoming popular and has seen some lazy, boring releases. Sampha adds a great deal of colour and beauty into the scene with a brilliant debut. He could be near Frank Ocean's level of talent. Check this album out and keep an eye out for what he does next.
Really surprised at the average rating of this one. Definitely one of the best records I've heard last year, not a single weak song.
Beautiful vocals and production on this album. One of the best of 2017.
Challenging listen for me. Sounds like Bjork meets Laurie Anderson meets Joanna Newsom meets Bobby McFerrin. Really unique. I guess I'm not cool enough :(. I did really like (No One Knows Me) Like The Piano. First listen... might grow on me, but I've heard a few albums like this where I'm like, WOW... but then never come back.
Sampha's full scale debut comes straight from the heart. You feel his presence all throughout this record, with his personal lyrics and delicate vocals shining through various instrumentation and synthesizers, which support him instead of overcrowding him. Every moment seems to have been given painstaking attention and it all pays off in the end.
Unfortunately, I don't think this I getting much attention here in the states. It doesn't even have an official physical release here. Still, I can't get enough of this record and I hear more and more intricate details every time I hear it. To me, it's the best album from an emerging artist so far this year. Highly Recommended.
Track Pick: Blood on Me
A really enjoyable album, no bad tracks on it.
Great stuff!

Checking back in. This just grows and grows. Genuine, heartfelt, detailed music painstakingly written and executed. As heartwarming as it is sorrowful. The upbeat tracks are groovy and his ballads are incredible and hit at ones emotional core. No offense to Kendrick or FJM but this is still the best album of the year as of May. Incredible album that executes it's vision. Not a weak track. Great production - more detail has been put into the production on this thing than just about any record I've ever heard. So much effort went into every second w/ sounds fading in and out and taking up various ranges of the frequency spectrum with such grace. The lyrics are well written and not something I noticed the first couple times but Sampha drops straight poetry. Will be watching Sampha w/ great interest going forward.
Underrated.
Guys this is a *seriously* good album if you give it a chance.
