Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 69.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

Aug20. 'Apocalyticon' is a very cool introduction to lead into first actual song 'World War Now' which I quite like. I like this thrash sound and the vocals are pretty cool. The album did sound a bit samey, but that happens when you don't know a band (or listen to a lot of a particular genre). I do however, wish there was some variance in song length; other than first or last song, all are 4 1/2 to 5 and 1/2 minutes (with a couple of songs just outside that spread).
'Satan is Real' starts with some cool guitars and is quite a slow song until the guitars start wailing about 2 1/2 minutes in. What a finish to the song. 'Totalitarian Terror' is a pretty cool song too, as is the title track, especially its acoustic intro. 'Army of Storms' is even better - I like its fast beat and cool chorus. A pretty good run home up to 'Fallen Brother'. The last two after this are not the strongest here.
Still, I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. 3.5/5
Incredibly good thrash metal album. Not an instant classic, but full of great songs. It gets bland at times, but there's really no weak moments. My favorite album of January 2017.
