Tracks 1 through 7= OMG THIS IS AMAZING! FANTASTIC ALBUM!
7 through 12= What happened? This suddenly got pretty average.

Fantastic debut album that was eventually eclipsed and forgotten when they became the biggest band in the world. There are some classic gems on here but it is kind of hit or miss.

I think this is U2's best album. I mean, how can you say no to songs like Into the Heart and Out of Control? It's like Joy Division on drugs!

Good album that appears to detail the trials and anxieties of adolescence even if the lyrics can be unintentionally funny e.g.(boy meets a man in the shadows).

Great debut; has all the classic U2 traits.

What a great start, blueprint of what was to come. They were a good band once upon a time.

There's a lot of energy and youth here. It's not quite U2 yet (at least, not what most people think of as U2), but it's a great album and I can see why some would consider it their favorite.

Agree with Mr. Shankly that they had a nice energy on this album. Also I will never understand why more people don't like "Stories for Boys"... 1 of my favorite U2 songs.

The idea that "I WIll Follow" is the only decent song is full of derp.

When I first heard this album I was used to hearing their more polished things, and was expecting that, so I didn't like it as much. Now that I have understood U2's career better, THIS IS AN AMAZING DEBUT!!! I am surprised with the Edge's almost metal/hard rock riffs (especially since people say all he can do is delay pedal stuff). Nice solid start and some people's favorite album of theirs. If you are a rocker and don't like U2s later stuff cause you think it is too artsy/pretentious/bland - this is the album for you to get to know U2- well and War.

Starts with hit "i will follow" and follows with 10 stark tracks, some a little too serious in approach. It can feel almost sullen or too-serious, but doesn't as you can sense a hint of optimism, and sometimes, like on "out of control", the music sounds fun to rawk to.
