Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 24% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.8/100, a mean average of 73.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.1.

Charlie Musselwhite brought me here as he's a guest on the album.
Their best album.
Another good INXS album, but then they all were from Shabooh Shoobah until Full Moon, Dirty Hearts. Not up to the standard of LLT, SS, The Swing, Kick or WTWYA, but not too far behind. INXS classics in the first three tracks and Bitter Tears, all up there with their best tracks but there are just too many tracks that aren't quite so good to rate it higher. I was lucky enough to see them at Wembley Arena touring this album but even that is not enough for me to warrant this a favourite.
imho not as good as Listen Like Thieves
Decent album, solid from start to finish. It doesn't have quite the knockouts of Kick, so doesn't quite compare.
Back in 1990 I would have told you this was better than 'Kick' after reviewing them recently their best material is in the earlier album faves here The Stairs,Disappear,By My Side,Hear That Sound.
Suicide blonde and Bitter tears are great songs, but I think Disappear is one of the best records they ever made.
Most people think of INXS as an 80s band but they had some great albums in the 90s, too. Me personally I almost like this one MORE than Kick, no joke. A great follow-up.
Its OK.
This is almost just as catchy and poppy as "kick", a noble follow-up to their breakthrough album. Start with "suicide blond" then roll on to "bitter tears" if you don't believe me.
