Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.1/100, a mean average of 79.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

Mostly filler, but Miss You and Beast of Burden are two of their best. Also like Before They Make Me Run and Just My Imagination. The rest is very forgettable. I find Shattered to be quite annoying.

Good album, but not as great as their late 60s/early 70s work. Miss You abd Beast Of Burden sound amazing, but the rest is either good songs or filler.

This album is so dull and boring and just feels so slow in comparison to the rest of their discography. Tracks like Far Away Eyes and Lies are basically pointless and are at times worse than being filler. The rest of the tracks, bar the opening track and Beast Of Burden, are mediocre or decent making the album feel like an extremely bloated listen even at a 40 minute run time. Most songs are very similar as well and quite simple with there being a drum beat and then some guitar and vocal thrown on top. Also, there isn't a lot to explore and the performances seem like they are drained of energy for example on Before They Make Me Run. A couple of choruses do catch me at times and I do sing a long a little but once that is over it is back to losing interest. The two big hits are amazing though and please listen to just them if you want to skip this record. Overall, a poor album from their discography and there is definitely better lesser known Stones albums to explore before this one.

I absolutely hate their version of "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)", but every other track on this album is really good. Coming out of their mid-70s slump, this album feels like the band being reenergised and discovering their youth. I guess you can thank punk and disco for that. "Miss You" is a soul-blues-inflected disco prowler that is so damn catchy, "When the Whip Comes Down" is one of the Stones' faster and harder songs and veers extremely close to punk blues, "Beast of Burden" is absolutely marvellous and the best song on the album, "Far Away Eyes" is a solid country-tinged track, "Shattered" is interesting and catchy but the album should have closed with "Beast of Burden". Overall, the band sounds very focused on this album, which helps significantly to make it a great album and a worthwhile listen.

Some Girls and Tattoo You are the last classic Stones albums.

Easily their best post-main street album.

With the exception of the three main hits off this, I wouldn't give this many relistens, but DAMN those three songs are good.

Best song(s): Miss You; Beast of Burden; Shattered

A lot of rock artists tried their hand at capitalizing on the disco craze and it didn’t go so well. It seems just like what the doctor order for The Stones, though. Some Girls is so much fun and original. It proved they could evolve and still be the baddest rock band on the planet.
