Last great album by the Stones.

Their last solid work, although I will never agree the Stones are good album makers, but great songwriters. Key tracks: Miss You, When the whip comes down, just my imagination, beast of burden and shattered... some of my favorite works by the stones.

So-so record for me. It's not that there aren't great songs here - there are. It just has an uneven feel, start to finish. Guess I just know what the Stones are capable of and this one falls a little short.

This is actually my favorite Stones album. They put some of the disco experimentation on Black & Blue to better use here, actually rolling it into a truly modern Stones sound. There are so many amazing songs. Side B is actually better than side A, something you don't see that often.

What a surprise. In the midst of the Stones slow decline from their 60s and early 70s dominance to the divisive, drug-bloated mess of the 80s, they shock us with this gem. Varied, creative, and driven. Ranks up there with the Beggars to Exile streak.

my favorite Rolling Stones album. I guess I prefer their more understated, but not sappy (if you can call a Stones song sappy), stuff.

This is late Stones but in some ways the wisened choices make this better than previous work. Far Away Eyes is their best countrified jaunt, and Shattered is as inventive as anything else they ever did.

I was just listening to this yesterday. Definitely their last great album. It's unappreciated as it is the Stones we're talking about: Exile set an impossible standard.
