Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.9/100, a mean average of 78.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

One of the best early EJ but also ranks among his career best because of one song....
Gênio do pop!
Not the best album from the best period of Elton John's career, but it has some flashes of the peak songwriting of the era.
Another great album, but like other commenters have noted, the hits stand above the rest on this LP. Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters may be one of the most underrated songs in EJ's catalogue.
The Rocket Man does it again. Rating (79.50)
Apart from "Rocket Man" and "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" I find this album a weak album, weaker as a whole than his previous album even if it gave rise to good singles.
This album passed me by in 1972 it wasnt until a few years later that I listened to this and his other early albums and discovered he made some great albums before Yellow Brick Road. This was his best album up to this point in his career. Honky Cat, Rocket Man & Amy stand out for me but the best song on this album is Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters the other tracks are solid, no weak track here.
Another pretty solid album from Elton John's peak. The standout tracks are the ones you expect Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters, Rocket Man and Honky Cat, but there is some gold in the deep cuts as well.
Following the massive masterpiece that was Madman Across the Water, Honky Chateau can sometimes seem to fall short. That doesn't take away from the genius that is "Rocket Man" and "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters". A great release nonetheless.
Rocket Man The best here, Mona Lisa's and Honky Cat the other standouts for me, an overall good album.
