Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.0/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

This one's alright, great for a road trip, but really nothing super special here.
"So I leave my possessions to the wind / And I'm done with ever wanting anything / Well I can die satisfied / No desires do I hide / Not today, not today / Nor for the next one thousand lives." So Devendra Banhart proclaims in "Seahorse," and if all you knew were the lyrics, you'd be sure this was some painfully bombastic hippie band from the late sixties. Well, you're half right. Banhart probably deserves the "hippie" label to a degree, but "Seahorse" is one of the most unassailably rocking songs of the 2000s, with a guitar solo that would be the envy of any classic rocker from Jerry Garcia to Jimmy Page. The rest of the album is uneven in spots, but that one song is easily enough to get the album into the best of the 2000s.
I don't think rolling is the best way of getting down Thunder Canyon, but that's just a personal preference. I can dig it.
After a while, sweet Devendra starts to all mash together.
