Real classic :)
This is a classic prog album. It might not be the best of the genre, but it proved that folk prog could be successful in the mainstream. Great stuff.
One of their best. Their grittiest and heaviest by far. Recording technologies were deficient back then but the music is too good to allow that from getting in the way. There definitely is overkill on the part of classic rock FM radio stations constantly playing the same 3 songs (Aqualung, Cross Eyed Mary & Locomotive Breath) from this album as if it is the only thing this band has ever done. These 3 tracks sure are awesome hits but the album as a whole is amazing.
I really like Tull, but I LOVE this album. In terms of quality and consistency, it’s far above anything else they’ve done. The title cut “Cross-Eyed Mary,” and “Locomotive Breath” got most of the airplay, but the real highlights are “Hymn 43,” “Wind-Up,” “Mother Goose,” “Up To Me,” and “Cheap Day Return.” It’s all great.
One of the best prog. rock albums of all time.

Another album that I recently returned to and immediately wondered why I haven't listened to for so long. A masterpiece from start to finish. Glad to see it is scoring fairly high on the overall chart.
man, aqualung is a master-piece
top 5 in the Rock and Roll Albuns Chart for sure!
Great album!
I'm not sure how much this one qualifies as art rock...it's mostly a pretty straightforward collection of songs without a lot of bombastic overplaying. But I do love Aqualung every once in a while. A fine sounding record.
One of art rock's true classics. It's a real shame this isn't on the top 500. It should be up there with Fragile.
