This album kicked my ass. Let it kick yours too
19loveless91 09/29/2012 10:37Is it just me, or has this album gone waaay up the overall ranking? As it should, really. While Loveless was their masterpiece, where their sound reached its final stage, this still makes for a damn fine album. Switching between noise pop, dream pop and shoegazing - the latter of which is what they would do and perfect on Loveless. But I think that even if Loveless weren't made, this album (together with some of their EPs) would be enough to secure the band's place among the best and most influential "noisy" alter/indie rock bands of the 1980s.
Brilliant, but the best was yet to come.
This album will always be overshadowed by Loveless, but it's worth a look if you liked that one. MBV are always unique and creative and this is no exception.
The worst thing that ever happened for this album was MBV making Loveless. However, this is a vastly underrated masterpiece in my opinion. Not the full frontal assault that Loveless is, this album has great song writing. Bmy favorite tracks are No More Sorry and Sueisfine (I like the subtle change in lyrics)

mayonaise93 12/16/2009 23:46A sign of good things to come with a tease of genius with the bands stunning arrangements and art. Unfortunately the record isn't executed well and lacks direction but more importantly self belief. Still an intriguing record.
