Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.4/100, a mean average of 71.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

half the songs I love, half the songs I hate. Therefore, I gave it a 50/100. Generally regarded as the worst of cage the elephant's 4 albums, I agree.
Their best and most off the chain work
I do really enjoy Cage The Elephant, but this one as an album didn't do it for me. There were 6 songs I love individually as songs, but there were some pretty bad songs that I couldn't stand listening to. Their debut and Melophobia are much more consistent
LOVE this album! Favorite of theirs. The acoustic version of Right Before My Eyes on the second half of Flow is everything, amazing song for a drive.
Excellent album! Really diverse and his voice is addictive to listen to.
Sell Yourself is also pretty much the coolest, heaviest chorus I've heard in awhile.
uugggghhhhhhh this album is so frustrating. It sucks because it has great songs like aberdeen, shake me down, rubber ball, right before my eyes and around my head, but it also has painfully obviously worse songs like sell yourself and indy kidz...gooooooddddddd i kinda get what they were going for with the contrast but the some of the material they put on here is just garbage...but damn, i do love some of these songs
Overall, it's a great album.
A bit inconsistent though
Cage The Elephant could be a good band if they stuck to more personal stuff like Shake Me Down rather than trying to be all political and shit. They're really not good at it.
Very uneven album. A few decent tracks but also some bad.
Me likey.
