Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.0/100, a mean average of 69.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.9.

Serviceable electrohouse but does go on a bit.
A good record and I completely understand why a previous reviewer called it a "guilty pleasure". This isn't innovative music by any account, in fact most of it is quite stale (the build-up, the inevitable drop, some dubstep thrown in), but these house compositions are catchy, retain your attention throughout and ultimately prove to be satisfying.
4x4=12 is one of mau5's most popular albums, but it's amongst my least favourite. The the album feature some great tracks ("Some Chords", "I Said", "Cthulu Sleeps", "Right This Second", it also features some of my least favourite tracks. Both of the songs that feature Sofi suck, which is a shame because the original of "Sofi Needs a Ladder" (called "You Need a Ladder") is an awesome track. The other problem track is "Raise Your Weapon". Featuring one of the best vocals in EDM history, it's completely ruined by the drop. If these 3 vocal tracks were reworked (removing Sofi's lyrics, and using the vocal from "Raise Your Weapon" with a different drop), then 4x4=12 could have been one of mau5's best albums.
Listened to this quite a bit a few years ago. The songs here with Sofi on them are downright awful
Made to be listened loud. Full of bass and some serious energy, its only issue is the repetitiveness of some of the songs. But this is house music, so why does that matter? It's a seriously, seriously good album.
This album is kinda of my "guilty pleasure" album. Certainly not a "greatest album ever" worthy album, but being a young man I gotta have some love for techno/club music. This is one of my favorite techno albums ever. I don't care if it's "mainstream" or not, it's a good ass album. Get some bass-heavy headphones and enjoy the ride!
